In the world of product certification, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is often viewed as a “black art” by many engineers. As a technician, I see it as a manageable science of noise control. EMC is the ability of your electronic device to function in its intended environment without introducing electromagnetic disturbances to nearby objects. This category is dedicated to the two halves of the EMC whole: emissions, which is what your product sends out, and immunity (or susceptibility), which is how your product stands up to the electrical noise of the outside world.
